One Percent for the Planet
Our environment and the impact we have are very important to Mark and I. We do what we can around our home and community but the 1% for the planet community allows us to make a difference globally. 1% for the planet is a non-profit organization that collects 1% of its member’s sales to be used to help “keep earth in business”. It is based on the idea that in order for things to change environmentally, businesses need to get involved. In 2002, the non-profit 1% for the planet was established to help support environmental non-profits globally that are underfunded. The money raised is then distributed to environmental non-profit organizations around the world that are committed to helping improve our planet. 1% for the Planet is helping to tilt the scales of giving toward the thousands of under-funded nonprofits dedicated to the pursuit of sustainability, to preserving and restoring our natural environment. We’re urging members of the business community to contribute one percent of their sales to these groups around the world—to become part of the solution.

Freestone: a definition
A freestone river is a river born in the mountains, fed by cold water and comprised mostly of stone and rubble.
The seasonal fluctuations of water flow tend to erode the rocks and gravel into round free moving particles – hence the term freestone.
These rivers are alive. They are constantly evolving year after year as the flows change and the riverbed shifts.
ALIVE – EVOLVING
Freestone is at the root of our business – alive – breathing – evolving. Let’s see where this takes us.
Expecting
Being pregnant is definitely a unique experience. With Mark and I expecting our first child in May 2011 we wanted to make sure to capture the beauty of our pregnancy. It was wonderful to watch Mark work with the lighting and his vision to created the following photos. With less than three months to go hopefully we will have time for some more before our new addition arrives.
