A Gift for the New Year
Normally presents are not part of our New Year’s traditions but this year was a little different. We were honoured with the arrival of our niece, Lillian, on New Year’s Eve. We cannot wait to meet you.
Welcome to the world Lillian,

Christmas at its best
Today we are doing something different. This post has nothing to do with our photography or our family. It’s about people going above and beyond – true Christmas Spirit!
The article is from The Globe and Mail and is about a random act of kindness. It started early this week with a woman going into a Kmart in Michigan and paying $500 towards layaways that contained toys. The woman
left a note saying “Happy holidays from a friend” – nothing more and nothing that could identify who she was. Since the article made the news her idea has spread and other people have paid off layaway bills that contain toys.
Christmas Spirit at its best.
The full story is below and definitely worth a read.
Tis the season,

Gardening – it’s good for the soul
We often do not give much thought to where our food comes from. It’s one of the downfalls of our industrialized society. I know that I never did until a few years ago when we built our own vegetable garden and I tasted the cherry tomatoes and carrots we had grown. I could not believe the difference in taste to those that we regularly bought from the grocery store. Ever since I have been in love with our garden and the joys it has brought our family. There is something very special about being able to make an entire meal from your own vegetable garden.
This year we were able to share our garden with our daughter Amber – even though I do not think that she will remember her first gardening experience

Camping over the years.
Mark and I met while canoe guiding in Northern Ontario. The outdoors and nature are an important part of who we are. As our summers get busier the time we have to get away keeps decreasing. But we always try to leave one week in the summer for ourselves and this summer was no different.
For the first few years Mark and I were together, camping involved two backpacks, our dog Echo and some mountains or a canoe. This year camping was setting the tent up next to the vehicle and rather than two backpacks we almost needed two vehicles. The best part is that we wouldn’t have it any other way.
We just hope that Amber grows to love the outdoors as much as we do. So far so good.
Your Storytellers,
Sarah and Mark
